Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is set to return to Anfield later this year as part of the club’s legends charity match, Liverpool FC have confirmed.
Klopp will be back in the dugout just 18 months after leaving the club, assisting Sir Kenny Dalglish as Liverpool Legends take on Borussia Dortmund Legends on March 28.
Several former Reds are expected to feature in the match, including Sami Hyypia, Fabio Aurelio, Gregory Vignal, Martin Kelly and Yossi Benayoun.
Confirming the development in a statement, the club said:
“Jürgen Klopp has joined the Liverpool FC Legends management team for the upcoming game against Borussia Dortmund Legends.
“Klopp will return to the Anfield dugout to assist manager Sir Kenny Dalglish for the charity match, presented by AXA and in association with Forever Reds, on Saturday March 28 (3pm GMT kick-off). Dalglish and he will be joined on the touchline by LFC ambassador Ian Rush and Forever Reds chair John Aldridge.”
The highly anticipated fixture is expected to attract huge interest from fans eager to see him back on the Anfield touchline once again.
