A Nigerian woman, Adeyemi Abidemi, popularly known as Joke, has expressed gratitude to music executive Don Jazzy after his generous cash gift contributed significantly to her relocation to the United Kingdom.
In May 2025, Joke participated in an online challenge on X (formerly Twitter) where users tagged celebrities they hoped would support them financially. She tagged Don Jazzy, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, and appealed for help.
At the time, screenshots shared online showed her bank balance stood at just ₦67.
Don Jazzy responded by sending ₦1 million to her account. After noticing the extremely low balance, he credited her with an additional ₦5 million, bringing the total support to ₦6 million.
Months later, Joke took to social media to share photos taken during her flight to the UK, publicly acknowledging the role the donation played in her journey. In her post, she wrote:
“I’m truly grateful to @DONJAZZY. The support I received played a big role in this journey, and today I’m in the UK. Thank you for the impact and for changing lives. God bless you always Sir.”
Her post quickly attracted widespread attention online, with many social media users highlighting the dramatic turnaround in her circumstances following the unexpected financial support.
Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, is well known for similar public acts of generosity and has, in recent years, supported several individuals through social media giveaways and donations.
