Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi has welcomed her first grandchild after her daughter, Ayomikun Alabi, gave birth to a baby girl.
Ayomikun announced the birth on Friday via her Instagram page, sharing maternity photos to mark the arrival of her child. Celebrating the milestone, Tope Alabi—now a proud grandmother—also posted a photo of herself holding the baby.
“I’m eternally grateful to God for this joyful addition to my family. Indeed Ayomiku, ayo si kun inu mi,” the singer wrote.
“My beautiful, strong girl @the_ayomikualabi_ I am so proud of the woman and mother you have become.
“Welcome to the world, my darling grandchild. I have dreamt of holding you for so long and now I’m showering you with kisses as I watch you grow. Being your grandma is my new favourite role. Big congratulations to the Bantales.”
Ayomikun is Tope Alabi’s first child. She got married to Oluwole Bantale in March 2021 in a private ceremony attended by family members and close friends.
Tope Alabi remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel artists, with a career spanning several decades. She is widely known for worship songs such as Angeli Mi, Kabiyesi, and Yes and Amen, and has also built a reputation as a film soundtrack singer and worship leader.
The news has drawn warm reactions from fans and colleagues, many of whom have congratulated the singer and her family on the newest addition.
