Liam Rosenior has disclosed that he is still residing in a hotel following his appointment as head coach of Chelsea FC, stressing that his accommodation situation is “not a priority” as he concentrates on steadying the club’s season.
Rosenior, 41, took over at Stamford Bridge after the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day. He arrived in January from sister club RC Strasbourg Alsace and has since guided Chelsea to eight wins in 11 matches across all competitions.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Burnley FC, Rosenior admitted that securing a permanent residence has been put on hold.
“The job never ends. Just a day. I managed to switch off for a day,” he said.
“I’m still in the hotel. I’ll probably be there until the end of the season. I don’t have time. I’m focused on this job. My living circumstances aren’t a priority right now.”
Chelsea currently sit fifth in the Premier League standings, a position that may be sufficient to secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League due to England’s coefficient ranking. The Blues have also advanced to the latter stages of the FA Cup and are awaiting their last-16 opponents in European competition.
Rosenior’s only defeats so far have come against league leaders Arsenal FC in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
A victory over Burnley on Saturday would see Chelsea move above rivals Manchester United, who are scheduled to play later on Monday.
The Chelsea boss also weighed in on the recent racism controversy involving Vinícius Júnior during the UEFA Champions League clash between Benfica and Real Madrid.
“If I categorically heard racism and nothing was done about it, I would take my team off the pitch, I wouldn’t play the game,” he said.
“I’m really lucky. I’m mixed heritage. My dad is black, my mum is white. What I learned in my life is everyone is pretty much the same,” he added.
Chelsea now face a demanding March schedule, including league encounters against Arsenal and Aston Villa, alongside FA Cup and European fixtures, as Rosenior aims to maintain momentum despite his unsettled living arrangements.
