“I can’t buy a woman what I haven’t bought my mum first” — American rapper, DDG

"Social Media Reacts After DDG Calls Himself the 'Best Rapper Alive'"

American rapper and streamer DDG is trending online after sharing a personal principle he follows when it comes to spending money on women he dates.

According to Complex, the rapper explained that he does not purchase gifts for any romantic partner unless he has already given something similar — or more valuable — to his mother.

According to him, doing otherwise simply “feels wrong.”

DDG addressed assumptions that he is a “big spender” in relationships, clarifying that while he may appear generous, he operates with firm boundaries. He noted that before buying a watch for a girlfriend, he had already bought one for his mum. The same rule applies to larger purchases such as cars, which he says he has gifted to her multiple times.

The rapper added that although he does not mind spending significantly on dates, he draws the line at paying a woman’s rent or buying a house outright for a partner. He said he would only consider purchasing a home if it is a property they both intend to share.

DDG was previously in a relationship with singer and actress Halle Bailey, with whom he shares a young son.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some praising his loyalty to his mother and others debating his views on financial roles within relationships.
