Actor Ray Emodi has announced that he is leaving acting to focus on a career in music. He shared the news in a video on his social media platforms on Tuesday.
“I have stopped acting in films. I quit,” he said.
Ray explained that his decision was influenced by his family, whose values and reputation he wants to respect.
“This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences. My family does not support this. I respect their decision and I do not want anything to harm the family name,” he added.
He also reflected on challenges he faced while filming, including shooting in unsafe conditions.
“There was like a craziness going on in the town next to our town, and we were still shooting,” he recalled.
Despite stepping away from acting, Ray asked his fans for support in his new musical journey:
“I love every single Nollywood fan, and I am not leaving you. I am just going to make music,” he said.
Ray began his acting career in 2013, gaining recognition through various Nollywood roles. He had previously taken a break from acting due to health and anxiety challenges. Recently, he has been exploring music, including collaborating on a two-track EP by Cruz of Life.
Fans have reacted with mixed emotions, with some wishing him success in music while others encourage him to reconsider returning to acting.
