US First Lady Melania Trump is set to preside over a United Nations Security Council meeting next week, marking a historic first for a sitting American First Lady.
According to a statement from her office, Mrs. Trump will take the gavel as the United States assumes the presidency of the United Nations Security Council. The session will highlight the role of education in promoting tolerance and global peace.
The meeting is scheduled for 3:00 pm (2000 GMT) on Monday and will focus on education, technology, peace, and security. Her office noted that this will be the first time a sitting US First Lady presides over the Security Council.
Recently, Mrs. Trump also made an appearance at the New York Stock Exchange in New York City, where she rang the opening bell on January 28, 2026.
The appearance formed part of her publicity tour for the film Melania, which documents her life in the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
