“The law is above you” – Davido Reportedly Loses Temper During Custody Hearing in Yaba Court

Davido Reunites with Imade Adeleke After Long Separation

Nigerian music star Davido reportedly lost his temper during a custody hearing involving his daughter and his ex-partner, Sophia Momodu, at the High Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos.

Lawyer Maruf Muhammed made the claim in posts shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he described the courtroom atmosphere as dramatic.

According to him, tension rose during the cross-examination, with Davido allegedly reacting when pressed with questions.

“The lawyer made OO1 lose his patience during cross-examination… Be you never so high, the law is above you!!” he wrote.

Cross-Examination Pressure

One social media user weighed in on the situation, explaining that cross-examinations are specifically designed to unsettle witnesses or parties in court.

“Cross-examination is meant to shake tables… even if the tables are strong initially. Every lawyer is looking for that position to break the table.”

Maruf Muhammed later added that the exchange rattled the singer, though he claimed Davido’s father was present and stepped in to calm him down during the proceedings.

“He got angry. Na him Papa de pat him,” he posted.

Online Reactions

While there has been no official court statement detailing the exchange, the reports have sparked widespread reactions online. Many observers noted that legal proceedings, especially custody cases, can become emotionally charged, regardless of a person’s fame or status.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Davido nor Sophia Momodu has publicly addressed the claims circulating on social media.

The development highlights how high-profile legal battles can quickly intensify under courtroom scrutiny, particularly during cross-examination.
