“The School Project Is Still On” — Kai Cenat Returns to Lagos as Makoko Promise Sparks Fresh Buzz

Kai Cenat Biography, Age, Real Name, Height, Parents, House, Net Worth, and Career

Popular Twitch streamer and internet personality Kai Cenat has returned to Lagos for the second time, reigniting conversations around his long-promised plan to build a school for children from the Makoko community.

Cenat arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday, where he was welcomed with a live band performance. Videos from the arrival quickly spread across social media, sparking renewed excitement among Nigerian fans.

The visit comes nearly a year after Cenat’s first trip to Nigeria, during which he pledged $5 million to build a school for children in Makoko, often referred to as Lagos’ floating slum. The pledge earned widespread praise at the time but later attracted scrutiny as the project faced delays.

According to previous updates, the delays were linked to land acquisition challenges and regulatory hurdles in Makoko, whose unique floating structures complicated construction plans.

As a result, the proposed school location was moved to Yaba, a more stable area of the city. Despite the change, Cenat has maintained that children from Makoko will still receive free education when the school becomes operational.

Progress on the initiative was addressed during Mafiathon 3, where Cenat revealed that over $1 million has already been raised. He also explained that the project would follow a phased spending approach, emphasizing long-term sustainability over rushed construction.

Cenat’s return has fueled optimism among supporters who believe his presence signals renewed momentum. However, some online users remain sceptical, calling for visible on-ground progress, clearer timelines, and concrete updates beyond fundraising figures.

His visit also comes amid growing global attention on Nigeria’s digital culture. Just weeks ago, fellow American streamer IShowSpeed visited Lagos, drawing massive crowds and viral moments as he interacted with fans and local creators.

With Kai Cenat now back in Lagos, attention has once again shifted to whether this second visit will finally translate into tangible steps toward fulfilling one of his most ambitious promises — turning a viral pledge into a lasting educational legacy.
