Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze has reacted to the ongoing custody battle between Afrobeats singer Davido and Sophia Momodu, offering a critique of both courtroom tactics and public reactions online.
In a video shared on Instagram, Freeze disclosed that an individual close to the lawyer representing one of the parties contacted him over concerns about the intense backlash she has faced on social media. The criticism reportedly escalated after Davido publicly called her out.
Freeze clarified that he does not support intimidation, harassment, or bullying in any form. However, he argued that the controversy reveals systemic issues within Nigeria’s legal culture.
According to him, lawyers sometimes use aggressive tactics — including personal references and emotionally charged arguments — to influence proceedings. He noted that he has personally experienced similar courtroom approaches in the past.
The broadcaster specifically questioned the introduction of highly sensitive matters during the hearing, including references to Davido’s late son.
He described such tactics as “unnecessary low blows,” suggesting that certain arguments may win sympathy in court but deepen public outrage outside it.
Freeze concluded by highlighting the distinction between legal victory and public perception. Even if one party succeeds in court, he said, the “court of public opinion” — particularly social media — may deliver a very different judgment.
The custody dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu continues to generate widespread attention, with online conversations increasingly shaping the narrative alongside formal legal proceedings.
