“I’m not who they said I am” – Baba Ijesha breaks silence after prison release, shares his side of events

Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has spoken publicly for the first time since his release from prison, offering his account of the events surrounding his conviction.

In an interview on Talk to B hosted by Abiola Adebayo, the actor stated that he is not the person many people perceive him to be.

According to him, the situation began after he declined a personal introduction arranged by comedian Princess, which he described as the root of the issues that followed. He also claimed that the incident was a setup.

Baba Ijesha further alleged that some individuals later visited him in prison to apologise, saying they had been promised money to testify against him.

Addressing actress Iyabo Ojo, he expressed disappointment over her reaction during the case, noting that she had trusted him with her children in the past.

“What hurt me about Iyabo Ojo is that she has put her children in my care when they were younger… Iyabo is my product, and I can’t ruin her,” he said.

The actor was convicted in 2022 over the assault of Princess’s foster daughter and completed his sentence before regaining freedom in 2025.

Baba Ijesha also reflected on his time in prison and expressed gratitude to those who stood by him during the period.
