Iconic American martial artist and actor Chuck Norris has passed away at the age of 86, his family confirmed in a statement shared on Instagram Friday.

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” the statement read.

The family described him as more than a global icon, highlighting his role as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, as well as the central figure in their lives.

“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”

They added that he lived with strong values and inspired millions through his work and character.

“He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.” It ended.

Born on March 10, 1940, Norris served in the United States Air Force before rising to global fame as a martial artist. Over the years, he earned black belts in multiple disciplines, including karate, taekwondo, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and later created his own system, Chun Kuk Do. His achievements in martial arts competitions helped solidify his reputation worldwide.

He later transitioned into acting, appearing in several action films such as Way of the Dragon alongside Bruce Lee, as well as Missing in Action and The Delta Force.

On television, he became widely recognized for his lead role in Walker, Texas Ranger, where he portrayed Cordell Walker from 1993 to 2001, earning a lasting fan base.

Chuck Norris continued starring in action films for years, with one of his final major appearances in The Expendables 2.

Beyond his film and television career, he became a cultural figure admired for his discipline, faith, and the viral “Chuck Norris Facts,” which humorously celebrated his toughness and larger-than-life image.

He leaves behind a legacy that spans martial arts, film, and popular culture, inspiring generations around the world.
