A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former governor Nasir El-Rufai to March 31, 2026.
The decision came after proceedings on Tuesday, where both the defence and prosecution presented their arguments before the court.
Counsel to El-Rufai, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to grant bail, arguing that his client is entitled to it under the law and needs adequate time and freedom to prepare his defence.
On the other hand, the prosecution opposed the request, insisting that the charges against the former governor are serious and that granting bail at this stage could interfere with ongoing investigations.
With both sides heard, the court chose to adjourn the matter, meaning El-Rufai’s bail request will now be decided at the next hearing date.
