JUST IN: Court Grants El Rufai ₦100 Million Bail With Strict Abuja Conditions

CAN Warns Tinubu of El-Rufai’s Manipulative Politics, says beware

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, subject to strict conditions, including a ₦100 million bond and a high-level federal civil servant as surety.

Delivering the ruling on Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik approved the bail application but imposed several requirements that must be fulfilled before the former governor can perfect his release.

According to the court, El Rufai’s bail was fixed at ₦100 million with one surety in like sum.

Justice Abdulmalik further ruled that the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro, two high-profile districts within the Federal Capital Territory.

The court also directed that the surety must submit the original Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property to the court registry as part of the bail conditions.

In addition, the judge stated that the surety must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17.

The court also ordered the submission of evidence showing salary payments covering at least three months.

To strengthen the verification process, the court added that all submitted documents must be authenticated by a letter from the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.

The ruling immediately drew attention due to the strict conditions attached to the bail approval.

Nasir El Rufai remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures, having served as governor of Kaduna State for eight years and previously holding key federal positions, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The latest court development is expected to continue generating political and legal discussions across the country as proceedings involving the former governor move forward.
