Veteran Nollywood actress and pastor Eucharia Anunobi has corrected a host on The Honest Bunch Podcast after he mispronounced her name and presented her credentials incorrectly during an interview.
The podcast anchor had introduced her as “Ukeriya Anunobi Ekwu,” a description that immediately prompted the actress to clarify her correct name and title.
Responding firmly, Anunobi stated that she should be addressed properly as “Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi.”
“If you want to introduce me, you introduce me properly. I remain Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi,” she said.
She also stressed that her doctorate degree was earned academically and not given as an honorary title.
“My doctorate degree is not honorarium. It is academic. I had worked. I had laboured. I am schooled. And when I mean schooled, I mean schooled… I’m a moving acting machine,” she added.
Anunobi also addressed the use of the name “Ekwu” by the host, explaining that the relationship associated with the name ended long ago and should no longer be attached to her identity.
“I don’t know where you got the Ekwu from. Yes, there was a court wedding, but there was no traditional wedding and no church wedding,” she explained.
According to the actress, the relationship has since been dissolved and the name completely removed from her life.
“That relationship has been dissolved, and that name has been expunged. It’s gone and buried and will never resurrect,” she said.
Anunobi earned her doctorate from Kingdom Life Bible College and Seminary International, noting that the title represents years of personal discipline, faith and academic effort.
Born on May 27, 1965, in Owerri, Imo State, the actress rose to prominence in the 1990s with popular films such as Abuja Connection and Glamour Girls, appearing in more than 300 Nollywood productions.
In recent years, she has balanced her acting career with her Christian ministry, often speaking on issues relating to faith, family, and relationships.
