Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has reached a remarkable milestone, scoring the 900th goal of his professional career.
The Argentine World Cup winner achieved the feat during Inter Miami’s 1-1 draw against Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup second-leg clash on Wednesday.
Messi opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes, cutting onto his left foot before firing a precise shot across goal to give his side the lead.
However, Cristian Espinoza equalized for Nashville, which eliminated Inter Miami from the competition.
With this achievement, Messi becomes only the second male footballer in history to reach 900 career goals, joining long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the exclusive club.
By the numbers:
- Total games played: 1,142
- Goals for Barcelona: 672
- Paris Saint-Germain: 32
- Inter Miami: 81
- Argentina: 115
For comparison, Ronaldo reached the milestone in 1,236 matches, while Brazilian legend Pelé sits third on the all-time list with 765 goals.
Messi’s latest milestone further cements his place among football’s greatest-ever players, even as Inter Miami’s Champions Cup journey came to an end.
