Veteran actress and TV host Whoopi Goldberg has opened up about her personal life, revealing her unconventional approach to relationships.
Speaking on The View, the 70-year-old star shared that she is currently single and enjoys her independence without the responsibilities that come with committed relationships.
“I bar hop, I go hang. I am single,” she said.
“I do hit-and-runs when I need it, but I am not married to anybody [and] I don’t have responsibilities.”
The Sister Act star made the remarks while discussing a Cosmopolitan essay about a woman in a long-term relationship who misses her single life, including casual outings and freedom.
Goldberg has long been vocal about her views on relationships, explaining that over time, she realised traditional partnerships are not for everyone.
In a previous interview with Interview Magazine, she reflected on how her perspective has evolved over the years.
“In the last 25 years, I recognised that not everybody’s cut out to be in a relationship. Some people are just cut out to be one-night stands,” she said.
She also made it clear that she values her personal space and independence.
“I don’t want to live with anybody… I have lots of people that I love, but I don’t need them living with me.”
Goldberg, who has been married three times, added that she no longer feels the need to structure her life around a partner’s expectations or needs.
The actress has a daughter, Alex, from her first marriage to Alvin Martin, and has since maintained a lifestyle that prioritises freedom, personal comfort, and self-awareness.
