Veteran actress and TV host Whoopi Goldberg has sparked backlash after suggesting that former US President Donald Trump should be removed from office following his controversial remarks at the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking on The View on Wednesday, Whoopi Goldberg described Trump’s speech as “not presidential” and “not helpful,” claiming that many world leaders no longer take him seriously.
According to New York Post, she went further to suggest invoking the 25th Amendment, which allows for a sitting president to be declared unfit to serve.
“Well, they questioned Biden’s competence. If Biden had acted like this, I would have said, ‘Yeah, take him,’” Goldberg said. “This was not presidential and this was not helpful.”
Her comments quickly ignited heated reactions online.
One critic wrote on X: “She was curiously silent during the dementia years of 2021–2025.”
Another user dismissed her stance, saying: “Why do we care what she has to say? Clearly she doesn’t understand what the 25th Amendment is. It’s not about disagreeing with the other party.”
