Peter Obi Alleges Plot to Block 2027 Presidential Ambition

Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has raised concerns that the federal government is working to prevent him from emerging as a candidate in the 2027 presidential election.

Obi made the claims during a sixty-minute interview on Magic FM in Aba.

Positioning himself as the most qualified among current presidential aspirants, Obi alleged that the government’s primary objective is to stop his participation in the next election cycle.

“The present government is bent on making sure I am not a candidate for any party,” he said.

He also took aim at the Electoral Law signed by President Bola Tinubu, criticizing it for omitting forgery as a punishable offence.

“It is very shameful for Nigeria that the new Electoral Laws assented to by the President excluded forgery as a crime,” Peter Obi said.

The former Anambra State governor further argued that Nigeria’s economic and leadership challenges require experienced leadership, particularly from individuals with strong backgrounds in business and administration.

Reports also indicate that Enyinnaya Abaribe and several members of the African Democratic Congress were present in Aba to receive Peter Obi during his visit.
