You can’t defend Tinubu’s govt without looking stupid – Isaac Fayose

Isaac Fayose

Popular Nigerian businessman and internet personality Isaac Fayose has said defending the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a difficult task.

Fayose made the remark while reacting to an interview granted by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, during the programme Head to Head on Al Jazeera.

In the interview with host Mehdi Hasan, Bwala addressed questions about the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria. The interviewer asked whether the government was proud of reports claiming Nigeria had become the fifth deadliest country in the world.

Responding, Bwala acknowledged the existence of insecurity but argued that the problem worsened after narratives about a “Christian genocide” began circulating.

“I acknowledge the fact that we have insecurity in Nigeria. We began to see back-to-back attacks in Nigeria after the Christian genocide narratives,” Bwala said.

He also argued that no country in the world is completely free from security challenges.

Reacting to the interview, Fayose posted a video on his official Facebook page, criticising the government’s handling of the situation.

“You can’t defend this government without looking stupid,” he said.

He further expressed concern about Nigeria’s security situation and criticised what he described as the behaviour of some politicians.

“Nigeria is the fifth deadliest country to live in the world and Nigeria is one of the countries where you see the most wicked politicians. How did we get here?” Fayose said.
