Doris Ogala Misses Court As Cyberstalking Case Takes Fresh Twist Over Health Claim

The cyberstalking case involving actress Doris Ogala took a fresh turn after a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos adjourned proceedings to June 9 following her absence in court.

Doris is being prosecuted in a suit filed by Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry, over allegations bordering on cyberbullying, attempted extortion, publishing personal materials without consent and dissemination of false information.

Thursday’s proceedings were stalled after the actress failed to appear before the court, prompting the prosecution to seek a bench warrant for her arrest.

Prosecuting counsel Tolulope Mokuola told the court that the defendant had been duly served with hearing notice and urged the judge to issue a warrant over her absence.

However, defence counsel Temiloluwa Akindayini opposed the application, telling the court the actress was absent due to health reasons following a recent surgery.

“My Lord, the defendant is indisposed, having undergone a surgical procedure on April 21, 2026,” he said.

“She is currently in Abia State recuperating. An affidavit to that effect has been filed before this honourable court.”

The prosecution challenged the explanation, faulting the defence for failing to serve the affidavit before the hearing and questioning the authenticity of the medical report presented.

Despite the objections, presiding judge Akintayo Aluko declined to issue a bench warrant, saying the court would give the actress the benefit of the doubt since an affidavit had been filed.

The prosecution also asked the court to ensure any future medical report submitted comes from a government hospital and urged the court to hold the defence accountable if Doris fails to appear at the next hearing.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to June 9.

The case has attracted significant public attention following the dramatic allegations exchanged by both parties.

Doris had earlier claimed she was in a relationship with Okafor from 2017 and alleged she ended her previous marriage at his urging. She accused the cleric of later betraying her despite promises of marriage and at one point demanded he either marry her or pay compensation, eventually seeking one billion naira in damages.

The controversy deepened after Okafor married Pearl, initially describing Doris’ reaction as “the devil’s anger,” before later apologising and acknowledging a past relationship, only to later withdraw the apology and claim he made it under pressure.

In an earlier ruling, the court also barred Doris Ogala and social media activist VeryDarkMan from making references to Okafor and his ministry online while the matter remains before the court.

With the case now adjourned, attention shifts to the next hearing as the legal battle continues to generate intense public interest.
