“I Won’t Change My Position” — Keir Starmer Rejects Pressure Over Middle East Conflict

Keir Starmer Rejects Pressure Over Middle East Conflict

United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made it clear that he will not shift his stance on the escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, insisting that the UK will not take part in the conflict.

Speaking during a briefing on Wednesday, Starmer said his decision is guided strictly by national interest, despite mounting pressure and international reactions.

“I am not going to change my position on the war. Whatever the pressure or the noise, I am the British prime minister; I have to attain our national interest,” he said.

His comments follow remarks by Donald Trump, who stated on Truth Social that the United States would no longer assist the UK, citing disagreements related to oil transactions in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also suggested the possibility of the US reconsidering its role in North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

In response, Starmer dismissed the influence of external statements, emphasizing that UK policy will remain independent and focused on domestic priorities.

The development highlights growing geopolitical tension among Western allies, particularly around energy security, military involvement, and strategic commitments in the Middle East.

While the situation continues to evolve, the UK government’s position signals a cautious approach aimed at avoiding direct military engagement while maintaining diplomatic balance.
