“100 Slots, Zero Cost” — Mr Macaroni Launches Fully Funded Tech Scholarship With 48 Hour Deadline

Mr Macaroni Launches Fully Funded Tech Scholarship With 48 Hour Deadline

A rare opportunity is opening up for Nigerians looking to break into tech without the usual financial barrier, and it is coming with a tight deadline.

Popular comedian and activist Mr. Macaroni has partnered with the edtech platform TechCrush to launch a fully funded scholarship program to train and launch the next wave of digital professionals.

The initiative, which opened on April 30 and closes on May 2, will select just 100 participants for an intensive, career-focused training experience. Unlike many tech programs that require significant upfront fees, this scholarship removes cost entirely, covering everything from training to certification and career support.

The move directly addresses one of the biggest barriers in Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem. Professional training in areas like software development, data science, and cybersecurity often costs hundreds of thousands of naira, making it out of reach for many young people. By eliminating that cost, the program is targeting individuals who have the potential but lack access.

Beyond the headline “free training,” the program’s structure signals a more deliberate approach. Participants will not just learn skills, they will be guided through a full career pipeline.

The scholarship offers access to 20 different learning tracks, reflecting the diversity of roles currently in demand within the digital economy. These include backend and frontend development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, cloud computing, mobile development, Web3 and blockchain, ethical hacking, and AI automation.

It also extends beyond purely technical roles, encompassing product management, digital marketing, technical writing, business analysis, project management, and virtual assistance. This broader scope suggests an understanding that the tech industry relies on both builders and support professionals.

What makes the program stand out is its layered support system. Selected applicants will participate in live instructor-led classes and complete a capstone project designed to demonstrate real-world competence. They will also receive an ACTD-accredited certificate, alongside mentorship and access to a professional learning community.

Career readiness is a core part of the experience. Scholars will get support with CV and LinkedIn optimization, helping position them for job opportunities immediately after the program. A personalised learning dashboard and resource hub are also included to track progress and maintain engagement.

One of the most strategic components is entry into the TechCrush Buildathon, a project-based competition that allows participants to showcase their work publicly. For many, this could serve as a first point of visibility to recruiters and industry stakeholders.

However, access to the programme is intentionally limited. With only 100 slots available and a short application window, the organisers are positioning it as a highly selective opportunity rather than a mass enrollment course.

For prospective applicants, the urgency is clear. There is no application fee, but the timeline leaves little room for delay.

Applications close May 2, 2026. Apply at techcrush.pro/macaroni-scholarship.

At a time when digital skills are increasingly tied to economic mobility, this collaboration between Mr Macaroni and TechCrush reflects a growing push to democratise access to tech education in Nigeria, not just by teaching skills, but by creating a direct pathway into the industry.
