Alvaro Arbeloa has called on Kylian Mbappé to continue showing his commitment to Real Madrid as the club prepares for its final three matches of the season.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Madrid coach addressed mounting criticism of the French forward following the club’s disappointing campaign.
Mbappé has recently faced backlash from sections of the club’s supporters, especially after reports emerged that he traveled to Sardinia during recovery from a thigh injury.
The striker also missed Madrid’s recent El Clásico defeat against Barcelona, a result that confirmed Barcelona as La Liga champions and guaranteed a trophyless season for Los Blancos.
Arbeloa said Mbappé could feature in the remaining matches if he completes training and is physically ready.
“If he’s there and can complete the training session and is available, then he’ll definitely get some minutes,” the coach said.
He added that the remaining games provide Mbappé with another opportunity to demonstrate his dedication to the club.
“The chance in these three games to keep showing the commitment he has to the club,” Arbeloa stated.
Despite public criticism surrounding the player, the Madrid coach defended Mbappé and insisted he believes all Real Madrid players give maximum effort.
“All my players have,” Arbeloa said.
“I couldn’t believe that a Real Madrid player doesn’t give absolutely everything he has for the club.”
Mbappé is expected to return ahead of Madrid’s upcoming league fixture against Real Oviedo at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
However, reports suggest the France captain could face whistles from frustrated supporters disappointed with both the team’s season and perceived issues surrounding player commitment.
The forward remains one of Madrid’s leading scorers this season despite injuries and criticism.
The comments from Arbeloa come during a turbulent period for Real Madrid, following a season marked by injuries, internal tensions, inconsistent performances, and mounting pressure over the club’s future direction.
