“I Did It Scared” — Thando Thabethe Hospitalized After Skydiving Scare in Cape Town

Thando Thabethe Biography, Age, Net Worth, And Career (2022)

South African actress and radio host Thando Thabethe has opened up about a frightening skydiving experience that ended with her being hospitalized after a difficult landing in Cape Town.

Sharing the moment with fans on Instagram, Thabethe posted a video documenting her jump, from the buildup of excitement to the painful aftermath. Her caption struck a balance between fear and determination.

“Didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so I created a movie instead. Would I do it again? Absolutely yes!!! A reminder to do it scared, but do it anyway,” she wrote.

According to her, the jump marked her third skydiving attempt but her first in Cape Town. What made it even more intense was the altitude. At 14,000 feet, it was her highest jump yet, meaning a longer free fall before the parachute deployment.

“I was so excited… this will be my very first one in the Cape Town region,” she said, describing the thrill that initially drove the experience.

Despite the risks, Thabethe explained that skydiving represents something deeper for her.

“There’s a feeling of renewal… if I can conquer this then I can conquer anything in life,” she shared, highlighting why she continues to embrace such high adrenaline challenges.

However, the landing did not go as expected.

She revealed that she had always been told landing is the most critical part of any skydive, a warning that proved true in her case. Instead of a controlled touchdown, she landed awkwardly on her buttocks, resulting in injuries.

“I’ve always been told that landing is probably the most crucial part… this is not how I’ve landed before,” she explained.

The impact left her in immediate pain, and she initially feared she might not be able to stand. Although she eventually got back on her feet, she was later taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The incident has since sparked reactions online, with fans expressing concern while also admiring her courage and openness about the experience. Many praised her for sharing both the excitement and the reality of extreme activities, rather than presenting only the highlights.

Her story also highlights the risks associated with adventure sports. While skydiving is generally considered safe under professional supervision, the margin for error during landing remains one of the most critical phases of the experience.

Still, Thabethe’s takeaway remains consistent with her mindset.

Rather than retreat, she appears determined to keep pushing boundaries. Ending her video with “to be continued,” she hinted that more details about her recovery and experience will follow.

For now, her message resonates clearly: Courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to move forward despite it.
