“We Simply Grew in Different Directions” — Zari The Boss Lady Announces Separation From Husband Shakib

Announcing that their deal is off, the 42-year-old mother of five through her management 8Trakk Group accused the Ugandan hotel of sharing the photos in breach of their contract. The statement read; "8Trakk Group terminates the agreement with the Divine Resort and Spa signed on 17th October 2022 due to the photographer breaching one of the clauses: "Photos and Videos to be used will need to be approved by Zari. "The photographer has posted photos of Zari before approval. "Zari will henceforth no longer be bound by the contract and will not be tagging Divine Resort and Spa on any of her social media posts."

Ugandan businesswoman and reality television star Zarinah Hassan, popularly known as Zari The Boss Lady, has announced the end of her marriage to her husband, Shakib Lutaaya.

The media personality, who is based in South Africa and widely known for her role on the Netflix reality series Young, Famous & African, revealed the news through a statement shared on her Instagram Story.

Zari and Shakib, whose relationship had been followed closely by fans across Africa, reportedly decided to end their marriage after five years together, citing irreconcilable differences.

In the statement signed by both parties, the couple explained that the decision was reached after deep reflection and was made with mutual understanding and respect.

“Five years later, after much thought and reflection, we believe we should part ways due to irreconcilable differences.

“While this wasn’t an easy decision, we feel it is the right one for both of us. We appreciate the time we shared, the memories we created, and the support we gave each other.

“There is no anger or resentment. Sometimes two people grow in different directions.

“We value each other and remain friends with mutual respect and understanding. We sincerely wish each other happiness, success, and all the best for the future.

Zarinah & Shakib,” the statement read.

The announcement came as a surprise to many fans who had admired their relationship and public displays of affection over the years.

The couple officially tied the knot in a private Islamic Nikah ceremony held in Pretoria, South Africa, on April 16, 2023.

Despite the end of their marriage, their joint statement indicates that the separation was amicable, with both parties choosing to maintain a cordial relationship moving forward.

Zari has built a prominent profile beyond her personal life as a successful entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer of Brooklyn City College.

She gained even greater international recognition through her appearances on Young, Famous & African, a reality series that showcases the lives of some of Africa’s most influential celebrities and entrepreneurs.

The mother of five has also remained a subject of public interest due to her previous relationships.

She shares two children, daughter Latifah and son Nillan, with Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz. She also had three sons with her late husband, Ugandan businessman Ivan Ssemwanga.

While the separation marks the end of another chapter in Zari’s personal life, she and Shakib have made it clear that their decision was not driven by conflict but by a recognition that their paths had changed.

For now, the two have chosen to move forward separately while maintaining the respect and friendship they built during their years together.
