“Don’t Kill Yourself Trying to Please Your Wife” – Pastor Funke Adejumo Advises Married Men

Senior pastor of Agape Christian Ministries, Pastor Funke Adejumo, has urged married men not to place themselves under unbearable pressure to meet every expectation in marriage, saying that no one can completely satisfy a woman.

The preacher made the remarks while addressing married couples, emphasising that although men have a responsibility to care for their families, they should not sacrifice their health or well-being to please their wives at all costs.

Speaking directly to married men, Adejumo encouraged them to remain responsible providers while recognising that perfection in marriage is impossible.

“To all married men, don’t ever kill yourself trying to please a woman. I’m a woman speaking to you, and there’s nobody that can please a woman to the fullest.”

She added:

“I know you’re responsible, and I’m not saying you should not be responsible, but please, don’t kill yourself.”

To illustrate her point, the pastor humorously referenced the beauty choices many women make despite their natural features.

“God gave us natural nails, we’ll cut them and put on artificial nails. God gave us eyebrows, we’ll shave them off and draw another one. God gave us natural hair, we remove it and wear wigs.”

She concluded:

“If the Almighty God cannot please us, who are you that wants to please us? That’s the truth. Don’t kill yourself.”

Pastor Adejumo also encouraged women to become financially independent instead of relying entirely on their husbands.

According to her, every woman should have her own source of income so that whatever her husband provides becomes an added blessing rather than her only means of support.

“That is why I tell women, don’t let the money you have be only sexually transmitted money. You too should have your own money, so whatever your husband gives you will just be an addition.”

The preacher challenged women also to bless and appreciate their husbands financially, rather than expecting gifts only from them.

Using herself as an example, she revealed that she presented her husband with 60 gifts on his 60th birthday.

“Who says you too cannot surprise your husband with a Prado? When my husband turned 60, I gave him 60 gifts.”

She added that women should move beyond waiting for their husbands to meet all their financial needs.

“Your life should not be dependent on, ‘Until daddy comes. We have left that level. If you’re still there, you’re the only one remaining.”

Pastor Adejumo’s message emphasized mutual support and partnership in marriage, encouraging men to avoid unhealthy pressure while urging women to pursue financial independence and contribute meaningfully to the family’s well-being.

Her comments have sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that successful marriages thrive when both spouses share responsibilities, support one another, and avoid placing unrealistic expectations on each other.
