Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have reportedly arrested Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his arrest.
According to a report monitored on TVC News, Adeyemi was taken into police custody shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court issued a bench warrant directing security agencies to arrest him.
The arrest marks a swift development in the criminal case against Adeyemi, who is facing allegations of forgery, fraud and impersonation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Justice Umar granted the prosecution’s request for a bench warrant after Adeyemi failed to appear in court when his case was called.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, involves an eight-count charge filed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) against Adeyemi and two other defendants.
The charges, filed on November 27, 2025, were brought before the court by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.
The prosecution alleges that Adeyemi was involved in offences bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation, accusations he is expected to answer as the case proceeds.
The trial is also expected to feature several high-profile witnesses, including Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, Ituah Sylvester, officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), and a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Adeyemi’s reported arrest now clears the way for his appearance before the Federal High Court, where he is expected to respond to the allegations levelled against him.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue a detailed official statement regarding the circumstances of his arrest or when he will be formally produced before the court.
The case has attracted public attention due to the nature of the allegations and Adeyemi’s association with the self-styled Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
It is important to note that the allegations against Adeyemi remain before the court, and under Nigerian law, he is presumed innocent until the charges are proven beyond reasonable doubt at trial.
