Burna Boy New Song 'Big 7' Sets New African Record On Spotify

Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning artist, has expressed regret that the majority of his countrymen don’t think he is on the same level as American music icons.

The musician said that his upcoming album, “I Told Them,” is a flippant reaction to those who have tried to undermine him both at the start of his career and up until this point.

This was disclosed by him in a Los Angeles Times interview.


The self-acclaimed “African Giant” lamented that Nigerians frequently place upcoming American rappers ahead of him.

He said, “To this day, there’s many Nigerians who can tell you an American rapper who just started their career, and they’ll say they’re bigger than Burna Boy. They don’t understand it. They’ll say, ‘There’s no way someone who talks like me, can even be on the same level as an American artist.”

Burna Boy said American songs used to dominate Nigerian media houses’ playlists but that has changed thanks to the explosion of afrobeats.
