Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State, has expressed his support for Rema and joined his fans and colleagues in wishing him a speedy recovery.
It was previously announced that Rema, the artist behind the hit song ‘Calm Down’, would not be performing in Lagos, Abuja, and Benin this December due to health reasons.
Governor Obaseki took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday to react to the news.
He expressed pride in Rema, who is an Edo native, and assured him that the people of Edo are standing by him throughout his journey.
The Governor acknowledged Rema’s remarkable achievements, including selling out London’s O2 Arena and accumulating 1.6 billion streams on Spotify this year.
He emphasized that these accomplishments not only demonstrate Rema’s exceptional talent but also serve as inspiration for young creatives.
Obaseki wrote, “My Rema @heisrema, your remarkable achievements over the years fill us with immense pride and joy.
“From the extraordinary feat of selling out the O2 Arena to amassing an impressive 1.6 billion streams of music, your accomplishments show your exceptional talent. They pave the way for countless young creatives, offering them a glimpse of what’s possible.
“We are extremely proud of you and remain behind you every step of the way.
“Wish you a speedy recovery, young champion.”
