Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, a renowned Nigerian singer, has created history by becoming the first African artist to receive a prestigious Chinese music award.
His remarkable achievement came about when his collaboration with American superstar Selena Gomez on the remix of his song ‘Calm Down’ won the title of Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China.
The ceremony was hosted by DJ Andy and presented by Hit FM, Taiwan. Rema’s name now joins the list of only a handful of international musicians, including American and British artists, who have been honored with this Taiwanese award.
Amongst the celebrated artists, the talented American pop icon Taylor Swift stands out with a remarkable tally of six awards at the event.
