Sources have confirmed that legendary Japanese wrestler Yutaka Yoshie passed away just hours after competing in his final match at the Takasaki tournament.
Yoshie, who began his wrestling career in 1994, was scheduled to mark three decades in the industry this December.
All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), the organization where Yoshie had his last match, announced his tragic death.
Reports indicate that Yoshie’s health rapidly deteriorated after the tournament, leading to his immediate hospitalization.
Yoshie, a former AJPW World Tag Team Champion, had competed in the Takasaki tournament before falling seriously ill in the locker room following his final match.
“After Yutaka Yoshie returned to the waiting room after the game, his condition suddenly deteriorated, and he was rushed to a hospital in Takasaki City, but he never returned home.” the statement read.
