FA Cup: Coventry end 37 year semi-final drought with 3-2 win against Wolves

Coventry City stunned Wolves with an incredible late comeback, securing their first FA Cup semi-final participation since 1987.

The Championship side won 3-2 at the Molineux, with all five goals coming in the second half.

Ellis Simms, who had previously wasted a clear chance, redeemed himself by breaking the deadlock in the 53rd minute. VAR found in favor of the goal despite handball protests.

Wolves quickly replied, equalizing through Rayan Ait-Nouri after narrowly avoiding a red card for Nelson Semedo’s dangerous challenge.

Wolves took the lead in the 88th minute on Huegi Bueno’s debut goal for the club.

However, Simms rose to the occasion again, scoring in stoppage time to equalize the score.

His brace made him the first Coventry player since Keith Houchen in 1986/87 to score five goals in a single FA Cup campaign. With extra time at hand, Haji Wright delivered the final blow, curling a shot into the bottom corner to seal Coventry’s dramatic victory.
