Uju Anya, a Nigerian assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University, has caused a sensation online after becoming engaged to her lesbian partner.

The assistant professor announced the news on the microblogging network Twitter, now known as X, by releasing a video of the proposal, which occurred in front of her and her partner’s children.

In a series of tweets that accompanied the video, she confessed that her boyfriend tricked her into thinking they were heading to a friend’s party. According to her, she arrived to pick up her now-fiance and received the shock of her life when she saw her big surprise. Expressing gratitude to the public for their well wishes, she promised to share clearer pictures from the proposal.

“Y’all. She said we were going to Summer Lee’s party. I arrived to pick her up and had the most delicious shock. She colluded with folks, people flew in, and we were surrounded by love. In front of our children and dear friends, Sirry Alang asked me to be her wife. And I said yes”.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you extending your congratulations and well wishes! I promise clear pictures are coming at some point, but I know nothing and have nothing (besides my dream woman and a massive rock), because it was all a surprise”.

As expected, the news has created a buzz online as some Igbos considered her a disgrace to their tr!be.
