Yassine Chueko, Lionel Messi’s bodyguard, has been barred from entering the field during the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-final match between Inter Miami and Monterrey.
However, he will be permitted to access the locker room and mixed area, as reported by The Mirror.
Chueko’s ban stems from the events following the first leg in Miami on April 3, where Monterrey secured a 2-1 victory on the road, putting them in a favorable position for a spot in the semi-finals.
Following the match, a confrontation occurred between Lionel Messi, who was absent from the game due to injury, and Monterrey’s manager Fernando Ortiz and assistant coach Nico Sanchez.
Ortiz had made remarks before the game implying biased officiating in favor of Miami, leading to the heated exchange.
Sanchez reportedly referred to Messi as a “possessed dwarf with the face of the devil,” according to The Mirror.
It appears that Messi’s bodyguard, who is also in charge of the superstar family’s security, was part of the altercation, and thus he has been banned from entering the playing field.
Messi is set to start for Inter Miami in the must-win game vs Monterrey.
