Toke Makinwa, a Nigerian entertainer, has opened up about her struggles with skin bleaching and expressed regret for her actions.
In her book, “Becoming”, she revealed that she decided to bleach her skin because her then ex-husband was cheating on her with someone who had lighter skin.
She hoped that changing her appearance would impress him and keep him from straying. However, her efforts were in vain as they eventually divorced.
During a Twitter Q&A with her fans, Toke Makinwa was asked what things she would change if she could go back in time.
She responded saying;
“Nothing. Regret is so exhausting!!!! Wait, maybe bleaching my skin, it was the dumbest thing ever and I’m just so thankful for good genes and money cos….”
