Kylian Mbappé, the star from Paris Saint-Germain, made history by winning his fifth consecutive UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Season award.
The award ceremony took place at Paris’ Pavillon d’Armenonville on Monday night, honoring France’s top football talents for the past season.
Mbappé’s outstanding performance this season, scoring 27 goals, was crucial in helping PSG secure the latest title. As the league’s top goal scorer, Mbappé is expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent this summer.
The UNFP Awards recognized other notable achievements in Ligue 1 as well.
Eric Roy from Stade Brestois was named Manager of the Year for their remarkable season.
PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma was honored as Goalkeeper of the Year, beating out competitors from Nice and Lille.
Warren Zaïre-Emery, the teenage sensation from PSG, was named Young Player of the Year and is likely to be included in Didier Deschamps’ Euro 2024 squad for France.
In the Best French Player Abroad category, Atlético de Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann won for the second time since 2016, outshining Arsenal’s William Saliba and Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni.
