‘Thrilled to reconnect’ – Abike Dabiri says as she opens new Twitter account

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has recently created a new account on X nearly a year after her original page was hacked.

Losing her previous account, where she had amassed 1 million followers, was not an easy decision for Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa.

Hackers took control of her account back in June 2023, and despite her efforts, she was unable to recover it until now.

In March, she expressed frustration over the delay in regaining access to her hacked account.

Sharing a screenshot of her new account on Instagram, Dabiri-Erewa revealed that she was still waiting for Elon Musk, the CEO of X, to assist in recovering her original account.

At the time of reporting, her new account already had over 300 followers.

Announcing her return to X, she posted a video which she captioned, “Guess who’s back on Twitter? After a long hiatus, I’m thrilled to reconnect!”

In the video, she said, “After my account was hacked I did my very best to get it back. It’s not easy to lose a million followers but that’s life anyway. I’m back on X. I look forward to meaningful engagements on the X platform. Nice to be back.”
