Dua Lipa calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Dua Lipa has made a plea for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza following Israeli airstrikes that hit tents in the city of Rafah, where displaced people were seeking shelter.

At least 45 people were reported to have died in the attack, prompting Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to call it a “tragic mishap” aimed at a compound held by Hamas-led militant groups.

In support of peace efforts, Dua Lipa reposted an Artists4Ceasefire graphic on her Instagram Stories with the hashtag #alleyesonrafah.

In a further comment, the singer wrote, “Burning children alive can never be justified.”

“The whole world is mobilising to stop the Israeli genocide,” she continued. “Please show your solidarity with Gaza.”

The popstar, who previously signed an open letter urging U.S. President Joe Biden to advocate for peace in Gaza, has a massive following of 88 million on Instagram.

In an interview for ELLE magazine in April, Dua Lipa expressed feeling “close” to the situation in Gaza.

“I feel very close to (those suffering) injustices in the world, or inequality. Whether that be war, or coming out to your family, everyone’s got a different experience… It’s about support and learning together,” she stated.
