Pop star Dua Lipa has reportedly severed ties with David Levy, a longtime member of her team, after learning he signed a letter calling on Glastonbury Festival to ban Irish rap group Kneecap from performing.
Levy was said to be the first signatory on the letter, which accused the Belfast trio of supporting Hezbollah terrorists.
Lipa, 30, has been vocal in her support for Palestine, and according to industry insiders, she felt Levy’s stance no longer aligned with her values.
“Dua made sure through her people that David Levy wasn’t working on her music any more. She is very openly pro-Palestine, and that doesn’t align with David,” a source told The Mail on Sunday.
“She views him as being a supporter of Israel’s war in Gaza, and the terrible treatment of the Palestinians — and that was made very clear through the letter that he signed and sent to Michael Eavis,” the insider added.
The controversy erupted after Kneecap made pro-Palestine statements during their set at Coachella in April, drawing backlash from critics including Sharon Osbourne, who accused the group of “promoting terrorist organisations or spreading hate.”
Calls to block Kneecap from Glastonbury gained traction, with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also speaking out against the group. However, the rappers have continued to receive strong support from fans who see their activism as part of their artistry.
