Nollywood actress Iyabo Alice Ojo, popularly known as Iyabo Ojo or Queen Mother, recently received the Eko Leadership Award for Youth and Empowerment.
She expressed her gratitude for the honor on her Instagram page, thanking the Eko Heritage Awards for the recognition and feeling humbled by the achievement.
She wrote:
“Yesterday, I got an Eko Leadership award for youth and empowerment, proudly organised by @ekoheritageawards …. Thank you so much to the organisers; I’m grateful and humbled”.
Fellow celebrities such as Toyin Adewale, Biodun Okeowo, May Edochie, Itele, Tayo Adeniyi, Kazim Adeoti, and others congratulated her, acknowledging her deserving of the award.
This recognition comes at a time when Iyabo Ojo is involved in a public dispute with Very Dark Man.
The conflict was reignited after VDM claimed she did not receive an invitation to Davido’s main wedding and suggested she was only invited to the after-party like other influencers.
Iyabo Ojo responded with evidence of her invitation, leading to a heated exchange on social media.
Defending her, the Managing Director of TVC, Morayo Afolabi Brown, had sent her a public note, sending her love and reassurance. She noted how people like her see Iyabo as a woman with noble intentions whose actions have been misconstrued.
Actor Ibrahim Chatta also praised Iyabo Ojo, calling her a superwoman, which didn’t sit well with many.
