The three-day burial ceremony for the designer of the Nigerian national flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, will begin on Wednesday, September 4 and conclude on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
A statement released by his son, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, on behalf of the family in Ibadan on Monday requested that the national flag be flown at half-mast in honor of the deceased during the burial.
Akinkunmi expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for their support, especially acknowledging the condolence visit from a delegation led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed.
The family is hopeful to receive the promised support from the Federal Government.
The statement read, “We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, to pay condolence to the family when the incident happened.
“We are still hopeful of hearing from the government as regards its promises in respect of the burial plan.
“While the family is waiting for the government to fulfil its promises, it appreciates the roles played by members of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chairman, Oyo State Advisory Council, Bolaji Ayorinde, and members of the council for standing by the family.”
