Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder and CEO of Telegram, was reportedly taken into custody at Bourget Airport near Paris on Saturday, as per reports from French news outlets TF1 and BFM TV.
According to Reuters, Pavel Durov, who was traveling from Azerbaijan on his private jet, was detained under a French warrant linked to a police investigation into Telegram’s alleged involvement in criminal activities.
The 39-year-old Franco-Russian was with a bodyguard and a woman when he was arrested by the Air Transport Gendarmerie.
Telegram has not yet provided a statement regarding the incident, and there has been no comment from the French Interior Ministry or police.
