Singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, expressed his belief that he and other artists like him should have retired from music by now.
The 45-year-old musician stated that traditionally, musicians do not have long careers in the industry.
During an appearance on the Adesope live show, Rudeboy shared that balancing family life and a music career is challenging.
“In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us suppose don retire,” he said.
“There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that.
“Every top artist has had their share of criticisms and scandals. Even the up-and-coming ones, too, will suffer the same fate someday. It’s a normal thing [in the entertainment industry]. But what matters is your personality and how you handle issues.”
Rudeboy gained fame in the 2000s as one half of the duo P-Square with his twin brother Peter Okoye, known as Mr. P. Although the group initially split in 2016, they reunited in 2021. However, in August 2024, Rudeboy announced that P-Square had disbanded once again following accusations from his twin brother Peter and their older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, of mismanaging the group’s finances.
