Arrest Wike, charge him for treason over threat to PDP governors – Clark tells IGP

Edwin Clark

Former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South leader, Edwin Clark, has submitted a petition to Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, urging him to immediately apprehend and prosecute Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

During a press briefing at his Asokoro residence, Clark read aloud a letter to the IGP on Thursday. In the letter, he called for Wike’s arrest due to his threats to ignite fires in the states governed by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During the PDP state congress in Port Harcourt, Wike had cautioned PDP governors to stay away from party affairs in Rivers State. Clark condemned Wike’s remarks, viewing them as a serious affront to President Bola Tinubu, who had appointed him.

“Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us. But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give it back to somebody.

“I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace – anything you see, you take,” Wike had said.

Edwin Clark went on to describe Wike’s statements as treasonable offenses that could potentially provoke violence in the nation.

He described Wike’s comments as a form of treason, capable of inciting violence in the country.

According to the elder statesman, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, and #EndBadGovernance protesters had been arrested for similar offences.

He insisted that the IGP must do the same with the FCT minister and get him to retract his statements.
