Malacia Poised for Return After 423 Days: What His Comeback Means for the Team

Tyrell Malacia, a Manchester United defender, is close to returning after a 423-day injury layoff.

The 24-year-old, Erik ten Hag’s first signing as manager, has been out of action for over a year due to two knee surgeries.

Malacia last played for United on May 28, 2023, in a 2-1 Premier League win over Fulham.

He has missed 56 games, a lengthy absence from the field.

However, his last appearance for the Netherlands was in June 2023, during a Nations League clash against Croatia.

Ten Hag recently updated Malacia’s progress, confirming that the left-back is nearing full fitness.

“He’s making big steps and progressing well,” said the United boss. “We expect him to join team training soon, and eventually get back into matches.”

Recall the Dutch defender has been included in United’s 25-man Europa League squad, after making just 39 appearances for the Red Devils since his signing.
