Starting from Thursday, September 26th, civil servants on the federal government payroll will begin receiving the new minimum wage payment.
The Spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, made this announcement in an interview.
He assured workers that they will start receiving their new minimum wage salary payments via alerts on Thursday.
It is unclear whether the minimum wage will be paid with any arrears.
He said, “Federal Government civil servants will start getting the new minimum wage from today(Thursday) this September 2024. What I can tell you is that the minimum wage salary payment is today I am not sure of the arrears”,
This statement follows the confirmation by the Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Ekpo Nta, that the government has approved the upward review of the consolidated public service salary structure, CONPSS, in accordance with the minimum wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
