Rapper Phyno has responded to an internet critic who questioned his decision to use Hushpuppi, the convicted international fraudster, on his song ‘Nwoke Esike.’
Since its release, music aficionados have been split on the song. While some applauded the unexpected collaboration, others expressed dissatisfaction, implying that Hushpuppi’s inclusion in the song was controversial.
The criticism gained traction on Sunday after Temitope Akintade, an X user, questioned Phyno’s choice.
“I still don’t understand what Phyno was trying to do on that track by bringing Hushpuppi to ‘motivate’ us,” Akintade wrote.
Phyno, known for his reserved public persona, didn’t hold back in his response: “Go and sleep if u no sabi game!!! If Young Thug or El Chapo talk for song now you go rush first play am. Ngwere isi red!!”
Earlier this month, Phyno dropped a snippet of the video for ‘Nwoke Esike’ in celebration of his birthday, offering fans a preview before its release.
