Alexander Isak’s early goal proved decisive in Arsenal’s Premier League defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park.
The Swedish attacker scored with a header in the 12th minute after Arsenal failed to clear a cross from Anthony Gordon, who produced an excellent pass into the box.
Arsenal initially started strong but struggled to regain control after Isak’s goal, lacking creativity in attack.
Mikel Arteta adjusted in the second half to unlock Newcastle’s tight defense, but Arsenal managed only one shot on target throughout the match.
This win lifts Newcastle to eighth in the table, while Arsenal sit in third. They could fall as much as eight points behind leaders Manchester City if Pep Guardiola’s team beats Bournemouth later on Saturday.
