Real Madrid finds itself embroiled in a legal battle, facing a lawsuit for as much as £14m (€17m/$18m) concerning a high-end ‘VIP bar’ that has yet to unveil its doors at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu. According to El Confidencial, Anastasia Gourmet has initiated legal proceedings against Real Madrid, demanding compensation of up to €17m.
The firm had been entrusted with the operation of the opulent SkyBar at the recently revamped Santiago Bernabeu, yet the lavish hospitality space remains unopened.
In the legal documents backing their claim, the company asserts that they have been denied access to the SkyBar since September, with only brief allowances for maintenance. They allege that Real has effectively terminated the “lease agreement” and is demanding that Anastasia relinquish the premises without compensation.
The company is grappling with financial obligations, particularly to suppliers such as Schweppes and Heineken, and risks bankruptcy if it cannot recover at least a fraction of the €4m (£3m/$4m) it has poured into the establishment.
The SkyBar was envisioned as an ultra-exclusive venue capable of hosting DJs and morphing into a vibrant nightclub following the final whistle. Private boxes within the venue are available for hire, with pricing set between €2,000 and €3,000.
